Asia Room

Asia Room

This week I have begun working on the 3rd room in my surreal room. The room is going to represent Asia and so far I have done Russia. I'm really learning the software more and more now. My next thing I would like to learn is how to create terrain.

At The End Of The Tunnel

At The End Of The Tunnel

This is a piece that I made for a contest on worth1000.com. I didn't finish the project in time for submittal but I did make a decent piece in my opinion in a fairly short amount of time. The idea of the piece is to illustrate the hope or the light that is in everyone no matter their situation or state of being. Also if you would like to view my finished Dali piece The Birds it is below this paragraph.

The Birds

The Birds

This is a piece I like to call The Birds. It's a piece I'm making somewhat based off a tutorial yet I'm putting my own spin on it. As you can tell I'm not done yet but its going well so far. I started with nothing but the background (the sun/sky) and made the orbs, selected the woman and inserted her, created the meteors with nothing but an image of a rock and a brush, and have made multiple (A LOT) of custom color adjustments to get the surreal feel and integration. I should have it done by friday and I'm hoping it comes out nice.

Surreal Room: Americas

Surreal Room: Americas

The lag that I have been talking about in my blogs recently has thankfully been fixed so now it's back to work on the surreal house. So far I have done a little work on the Americas room based on, as you might have guessed, the Americas. I would like to be further along but in the process of making the room I ran into some problems importing some .3DS files and that slowed me down a little bit. Though the beginning of this project might have been a pain, I find out more and more about the software as I go and it's turning out to be a huge learning experience.

Surreal Room

Surreal Room

This week I'm working on making a room in Archicad but not just any room. I have to make the room fit in with our current surreal projects. My idea is really the stairs in the center of the room going to up to Heaven and down to the other place, then I have the four corners, representing the four corners of the world or the four continents. In each room I'm going to put things that represent whatever continent that the room is representing. When I'm finished I think this could really be a nice piece  but for now this is a really good learning experience.

First Archicad Project

First Archicad Project

This is what I have made so far in my new Archicad software. It's not much yet but it will soon take shape. Rooms like the bathroom, bedroom and kitchen are not even close to being done yet but I just wanted to show what I have done so far.

La...[loading]....g

La...[loading]...g

This week in graphics i have so far done nothing. Why you might ask? There are a few reasons actually. One would be because my main software (Archicad) will not load... at all. It won't even open my project. See when Archicad doesn't load I usually go back to photoshop but the lag is so bad that i can't even paint a simple picture. So I can't even use photoshop. Honestly I'm surprised that I can even blog right now. "I'm sorry I had to put ya'll in this position, vent to ya'll" as Drake said but there's nothing I can do. I'll try to have a blog that takes a tour through my current progress with my house by the end of the week but if I don't you know why.

Archicad

Archicad

I finally finished up the Dali piece and am currently starting to work on Archicad. I have been playing around with the software a little bit and I'm starting to get the hang of some basic things. I still have a lot more to learn but I've found a series of tutorials that should be able to guide me through my beginning stages. So I present to you my first little project in the making, a basic house.

Throwback

Throwback

Most people are embarrassed of their mistakes or things they messed up. But really, although it may sound cliche, you have to learn from your mistakes. Just looking at this piece, which is the first piece I ever made, I can honestly say it's terrible. I did make the can myself though. Anyways, most people try to hide their slip ups but I see it as a chance to better myself so I post it and let you see how far I've come. Just scroll down and see my latest piece.

Alternate Zebra Tree

Alternate Zebra Tree

I'm now working on this piece while is an alternate to my original "Zebra Tree". I'm still working on it but I think it's starting to look pretty nice. So far I've carefully selected and deleted the old background, added the background and created an atmosphere on the Earth. The hardest part was selecting the tree and getting the branches selected but it's beginning to work out nicely.

Zebra Tree

Zebra Tree

This is a piece I'm making for our upcoming Dali Surreal Project. It's really an idea that just hit me and I started visualizing it. Soon after I started this piece. It's supposed to portray

Guss Greenbear

Guss Greenbear

This is the final Guss Greenbear scene I will be working on this year and it's actually a pretty good piece. It will be the first scene featured in scene II where we will actually see Guss talk for the first time along with a few other people. It's going to be pretty cool and it's going to be nice to get back and finish the book next year.

Reach

Reach

This is another piece that I made one day during a short break from Guss. It is basically the night sky, the moon, and a cloud, but in the cloud is a child reaching for the moon. This piece represents how innocent children can be and how they just want everything. How they will reach for the moon, I personally am inspired by this.

Guss Greenbear

Guss Greenbear

This is another Guss Greenbear scene I am currently working on. It is going to feature two art museums: The Uffizi in Florence, Italy and The Louvre in Paris, France. Both of these art museums will deny Guss entry and he will again be turned away. On the bottom right I have already finished The Uffizi and it will feature a moving clock, men who walk in the shadows, and a few birds flying in the sky.

This is the image I based my uffizi on:

Photoshop Knowledge Quiz

Photoshop Knowledge Quiz
Today we took a quiz to test our PSD knowledge and it turns out I did pretty well. I missed questions 4, 5, and 8 giving me a 70%. I just wanted to share this to show my progress and what I have learned throughout the year. Even though I don't have a result from the beginning of the year to compare with, I can say it would have been less than this grade.

Guss Greenbear

Guss Greenbear

This is the part of the title page that Guss pulls down to the Guss Greenbear book Marc and I are working on. I wanted to post it because I have just officially finished it by adding the two signs to the top left and right. The signs, as you may have guessed, are instructions to turning pages.

Guss Greenbear

Guss Greenbear

This is a new scene for Guss I have been working on and I'm pretty excited about it. It is set inside a train where Guss will be sitting (either on the left or the right depending on the balance I create). In the window though a scene I have created will slowly be passing by. It will probably be one of the more creative things Marc and I will be doing for this project and I can't wait to see it moving.

What's Your Role?

What's Your Role?

This is a piece I made a while back for a project. The idea of the project was to show what you can do about world hunger. I made this and my idea was to show people the way. Help them and guide them to a better future.

Guss Greenbear

Guss Greenbear

This is the piece I am currently working on. It is another scene from The Greenbear Chronicles: To Be or Not to Be. The piece will have Guss walking down the deck of the ship to the edge. Also the ocean in the background will slowly move as if the ship were moving along. I'm not finished yet but I will probably add some seagulls as Marc and I have already experienced with it and it looks pretty nice.

Guss Circus Scene

Guss Circus Scene
This is a scene that I made for the Guss Green Bear interactive book me and Mark are working on. The interactive pieces include a Guss that will possibly move and juggle. Also the bear on the horse will ride across the screen holding a sign that says "Green Bears not allowed to perform under the big top".

Another Earth

Another Earth

This is a piece that I made in class in my free time. It's the Earth with the moon rising over the horizon but the Earth, as you can see, has a ring. The ring is just something I wanted to try and see what the Earth would look like.

GGG

Guss Greenbear: Jungle Scene

This is a scene for Marc and my project on Guss Greenbear. The scene, as you may guess, is going to include Guss walking across the jungle. The scene includes an owl in a hole that when you tap it will move up and "hoo". It also includes a lion that will pop up from the grass and roar. And the last Moving part will be the clouds that will slowly move across the sky.

We Are One

We Are One

This is my piece I made for the Panzi foundation about the Democratic Republic of the Congo. In the D.R.C. women have no rights, children are being abducted and life is just rough. My piece shows that children here and children there aren't that different. The AK-47 by the bed represents the children being forced in to the Militia but the soccer ball in the corner represents the children's love for soccer and other activities just like children here.

Spring

Spring

This is a piece I made for a Spring project. The objective was to make a piece thats represents the Springtime and the winner's piece is put on the cover of the invitation. I made everything in this image with the exception of the grass and the butterfly.

Upside Down Mountain

Upside Down Mountain

This is a piece I complete by following a tutorial. I have been wanting to do since the begining of the year. I have been working on it as much as I could in all the free time I get. Now about the piece itself, I drew every part of this image myself from the large upside down mountain to the boy in awe. I'm quite happy with this piece but I think I'll make a little adjustments in the future and see what happens.

Eletree

Eletree

This piece was part of a project that was supposed to be an animal in unity with nature. I see this piece and I feel peace and tranquility. The elephant growing from the Earth really shows unity within nature.

My Tortoise

My Tortoise

This is a piece I have been working on this last week. The objective is to make an animal that's larger than it would usually be. This piece is personal to me because I actually own a small tortoise. I'd actually like to do more with this piece but this is what I have so far.

Forgotten

Forgotten

This is one of my first pieces I made in Photoshop this year. It started off as making an apple with a bite taken out of it and once that was done I had to put it in a scene which is the curb. It represents how we take advantage of small things like apples and how they are forgotten when we are actually very fortunate  to have such simple things. I like this piece because I can look back on it and remember when I first started and see my improvement.

Street Glow

                                            Street Glow

This is a piece I made by following a tutorial that I found on worth1000.com. I thought it looked like a challenging and helpful tutorial so I decided to try. Here's what I made,

Here's the link to the tutorial:
