Sculpture Finished

Sculpture Finished

This week I have finished sculpting the World Cup sculpture. Next wee I will have to fire the peice and then glaze and paint it. In the end I believe the form is pretty close to what I wanted. I really impressed myself with my skill with working with clay and I'm very pleased. After the glaze and paint goes on I believe the peice will look great and I am very excited to see it.

Globe

Globe

This week in class, I have made significant progress on the minute details for my sculpture. I'm in the process of carving the nations of the world on the top "globe" part of the structure. Also I have made the bricks on the bottom or base of the sculpture. The piece is really begining to come together and I can already vision the finished piece. I can't wait to finish the details and glaze the final piece.

WCS

WCS
This week I have gotten very far with my World Cup sculpture. I'm beginning to feel very comfortable with clay and understand how to manipulate it the way I want. The piece is really starting to resemble the real trophy and I'm very pleased. I've just added the two overhanging ledges on the left and right also. Next week I should be pretty close to finishing and being ready to paint and fire it.

Progress: World Cup Sculpture

Progress: World Cup Sculpture

This week I've made great progress on my World Cup sculpture. I feel like things are begining to take the shape of what I have in my mind. Also I've gotten a lot more comfortable with working with clay than I was when I started this project. I'm very excited to see my finished peice but that's still a ways away. For now I'm still working on somewhat replicating the basic form of the actual trophy.

World Cup Sculpture

World Cup Sculpture

This week I've started my World Cup sculpture. Even from the first couple of days I can tell that it's going to be harder than I thought. At the same time I can't wait to get into it and really challenge myself. I've never really done much sculpture before so it'll be interesting to see how it goes. In the end I hope that it at least looks somewhat like my goal.

Progress

Progress

This week I have been working on more of the plans for the mythological creature house. It's beginning to seem a little more difficult than I expected. Understanding how everything will fit together is a real challenge. I just need to continue putting it all together piece by piece. I believe that I am capable of this but if will just take some time.

Floor Plans

Floor Plans

This week I've begun the floor plans for the mythology house project. My experience from the last project is really turning out to help me. I'm finding that I know terms and measurements but also I can understand what I am drawing will be like once created. Next I will move onto the wall plans and this will most likely be the most difficult part of the whole project. I believe this project will turn out very nicely.

World Cup Sculpture

World Cup Sculpture

After I complete my plans for this next project I plan to take a break from all of the architecture. As the World Cup is this Summer, I've decided to make a model of the World Cup trophy. The World Cup will take place this summer in Brazil and being a soccer fan I'm very excited. I have little sculpting experience in the past but I am very skilled with hands on artistic projects. I'm actually very excited to try my hand at sculpting though.

New Project

New Project

This week I have begun my new project. The project is to create a house without any guidance for mythological creature (Hydra). Now since Hydra is a multiple-headed snake, my house designs have to cater to this idea. For instance, I will not use stairs, but instead I will be constructing a ramp. Also there will be an open roof in the center for basking.

New Project

New Project

Now that I've finished my model A-Frame house I will be moving onto my next project. At the moment I am brainstorming ideas. The project is to build a house considering the needs of a mythological creature (hydra, the multiple headed snake). The only real requirement is that it has to be two stories. Other than that it's all up to me.

Finishing Up

Finishing Up

This week I've finished the loft floor and begun the roof sheeting. The house is looking great and even better than I imagined. I'm very pleased with the result after all this time and work. Next week I will be finishing up and hopefully done. Now I can begin to think about my next project which is to build a house from my own plans.

House Assembly

House Assembly
This week I've begun the construction of my model A-Frame house. Like I've expected all along it's really beginning to look great. As I raise the walls I begin to see the different rooms and the makings of a real house. The loft subfloor, remaining A-Frames and roof sheets still have to go up. I should be done very soon and I am very excited to see the finished product.

Spiral Stair Case

Spiral Stair Case

This week I've made significant progress on the spiral staircase for my A-Frame model house. It's a very slow and complicated process as each stair must be glued seperately. It is about halfway completed and I can begin to see the spiral stair case look. I can't wait to see the stair case as part of the house and how it fits in. This should be the last peice before I begin to peice the different components of the house together.

Stair Case

Stair Case

This week I begin on the last thing I have to construct and it is the spiral stair case. I have assembled all of the seperate stairs and now they have to be welded (glued) to the center pole. The project is really coming together as I have to walls already set in place on the floor plan. I'm excited to finish, not because I want to be done, but because I am excited to see the final product. It's been tough but I'm almost there, almost done. I should have the stair case finished by this Friday as well.

A-Frame Model House

A-Frame Model House
This week I have been working on wall frames and structures. Even though I am working on a small scale model it looks very similar to the real frame and structure of a house. I've watched a video of a house being built and it closely resembles my project but on a much larger scale of course. I find it very interesting and I'm really enjoying this project. I can see the finished product and it is not too far away.
